Use my free printable to make this graduation money gift idea.
What you’ll need to make this graduation money gift idea:
- square box of tissues. You can get these cheap on Amazon. My free printable template fits the Kleenex brand and Great Value (Walmart) brand tissues. The Puffs Plus boxes are a little bigger so my template won’t fit that box quite as well.
- money – any denomination, but you’ll want at least 10 bills
- 1-2 pieces of tissue paper
- tape runner or double sided tape
- transparent tape
- paper to decorate the outside of the Kleenex box. Feel free to print and use my free printable (downloadable below).
- markers, crayons or color pencils (school colors are best)
- pencil
- scissors
How to make a tissue box money gift
Decorate the sides and bottom of the tissue box.
Print my free printable.
My free printable contains easy-to-cut pieces for each side, the top and bottom of the tissue box, the pull tab, and graduation-related quotes.

Cut out the printable boxes.
Cut each of the printable components by cutting just outside of the dotted lines for each of the pieces.
Decorate the tissue box for the money roll.
If desired, decorate each of the printable components using markers, crayons, or color pencils. I used markers in the school colors of the graduate. You can keep it simple by making dots, squiggly lines, stars, etc.
Attach sides and bottom to the tissue box.
Use a tape runner or double sided tape to attach the sides to each side of the Kleenex box. You can put the tape on the box and then place the paper on box.
Place the “Woo Hoo Congratulations” square on the bottom of the tissue box using a tape runner or double sided tape.
Prepare the inside of the tissue box for this graduation money gift idea.
Remove the tab from the top of the tissue box.
Trace the tab on the blank square piece of paper from the printable and cut it out.
Attach the paper to the top of the tissue box using adhesive.
Cut off the plastic that is attached to the tissue box opening.
Remove the tissue from the box.
Take the facial tissue out of the box. You’ll want to just take out small sections at a time. Pulling out too much at once can rip the tissue box. You can place it in a Ziplock bag and use it to refill another tissue box.

Tape bills next to each other using transparent tape. The bills should be flush, right next to each other, not overlapping.
Add graduation quotes to the line of bills every so often. The quotes are face down in this photo so that I could put tape on the back side.
Roll the money
Begin to roll the money starting with the bottom. Keep it tight and straight.
Add the pull tab & insert the money roll into the tissue box.
Tuck tissue paper into the box.
