Who doesn’t like receiving a fun care package in the mail?
Receiving care packages is so much fun. This post contains printables for a red care package theme. The printables feature positive words with the word “RED” in them. And I’ve stuffed my red care package full with red packaged items.
I’ve linked up two FREE printable options. One requires printing on white card stock with color ink. The other only requires black ink. I’ve also linked a YouTube video on this project at the end of this blog post about the 2nd free printable option..
Friend care packages, boyfriend care packages, military care packages, and college care packages create a fun surprise for the person opening theme. I get the greatest texts and phone calls from people after sending them.
My website contains affiliate links which means that I may receive small commissions for items purchased, which doesn’t change the price you pay.
Packaging
There is no shortage of options for containing your red care package, with many sizes of boxes, baskets, and other types of containers. If you follow my care package blog posts, you’ll notice I almost always us the same box. I love this box for a few reasons:
- Size – big enough to put several items in, but small enough to affordably fill it up.
- Style of opening – I like how the flap opens at the top and the nice space on the top flap, perfect for decorating
- Color – The white box color gives it an elevated look.
I ordered my boxes here from Amazon. After shopping around at ULine and others, I found this to be the best deal after factoring in the free shipping that I receive with Amazon Prime.
These boxes are 10″ x 7″ x 4″. As you pick your boxes, think through all three dimensions. It was important to me to have at least 3.5″ in height so that I wouldn’t be too limited on what would fit into the box.
Pick your quotes/sayings.
This red theme was a bit more challenging for me than some of the others than I’ve done before. Below are some options:
- We miss you al-RED-y.
- Feelin’ hot, hot, hot
- Red Hot Love!
- You are RED-iculously awesome
- You are RED-iculously kind
- Hey HOT stuff!
- I think you’re RED hot.
- Red-y to Get Out of the House
- I miss you RED-iculously
- Work is RED-iculosuly boring without you around
- I’m RED-y to see you again
- You’re inc-RED-ible
- You’ve inspi-RED-ed many
- Sending a hund-RED hugs
- You’re RED-iculously amazing
Create printouts with your “red” sayings and quotes.
If you want to use my pre-made printables and you’re using the same box that I do, you’re set! There is no need to do measurements. I’ve included the measurements of my box below in case you’re wanting to make any modifications.
- Top Flap – 10.5 inches wide, 7 inches tall
- Bottom (inside) of box – 10 inches wide, 7 inches tall
- Left and right side (inside) – 7 inches wide, 3.8 inches tall
- Front and back sides (inside) – 10 inches wide, 3.8 inches tall
If you’re using a different box, you’ll need to know the size of each of the flaps you’ll be covering with paper. And if you’ll be covering the inside of your box, measure those as well.
Print the printables.
I use this white printable card stock to print out my colored ink care package printables at home. This card stock is smooth and accepts the ink well. It’s competitively priced and comes out to a low per sheet cost. I used to buy white card stock at Hobby Lobby at 50% off. It printed alright, but there were often streaks and some spots from time to time. The linked card stock above actually comes out cheaper than the discounted Hobby Lobby card stock.
Printable Option 1
There are lots of red patterns going on in this printable. It’s fun and perfect for the red theme of this care package. You’ll see the printables in the photo below.
Access these FREE red care package printables here. I’m making these care package printables available to you for free so that you can easily make your care package. Feel free to print it out and use it, but please do not distribute it digitally (do not email my file to people, instead send them a link to the website).
Printable Option 2
This free printable prints in black ink and looks even better when it is printed on red card stock or paper. If you only have white paper, use red markers or crayons to add red color to the paper. Here is some red card stock if you want to buy it online. Access printable # 2 for FREE right here. If you use the boxes that I did (linked above) this will be super simple and fast for you.
Add embellishments
If you’re creating the red care package with the option #1 printable, you won’t need to add embellishments as there is much design in the printable already.
If you are using the option #2 printable, you may decide to add red stickers (available from any craft store) or cut out red shapes from construction paper. You could also use markers or crayons and draw the red circles and/or starts on your printable.
For my option #2 printable, I used a sheet of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper full of red polka dots. Then, I cut a couple strips of the scrapbook paper for two of the sides inside my box. And finally, I cut around some of the dots on the paper and glued those to my printed pages.
Fill the box with red items.
There are many red options, especially snacks.
Apply shipping label.
I love these Avery labels that I got on Amazon! You can go the Avery website and there are dozens of great templates. I can quickly find something cute here that fits my theme. I covered our addresses below with card stock for privacy reasons. (These labels make it easier for me to re-use my boxes.)
I hope you found helpful information about creating your next care package. Whether it is for a college care package, a military care package, a friendship care package, or a get well care package, I have no doubt the recipient will love whatever you send because care packages are always a day brightener!
