Care Package: Fall Theme

This post shares our care package group’s newest college care box with a Fall theme.

We been having a lot of fun getting together to make our monthly care package. And it’s so much fun to see all the girls post pictures after they receive their care box each month. I’ve linked a YouTube video on this project at the end of this blog post showing the contents of the box.

Steps for making the care box is below.

Find a box.

Figuring out what you’ll use for your box is one of the first things you need to do. The size of the your box determines how much can fit inside and also determines how you can decorate your box.

While there are many sizes of boxes available, I decided to go with one that is 10″ x 7″ x 4″.

I liked this box because it is deep enough to hold various types of items. Click here to see the box that I got on Amazon. They’re available with Amazon Prime, so there wasn’t a shipping cost. I have a care package group so we’ll all use these. I also like this size because it doesn’t take a lot to fill it up.

Decide on your theme and create any sayings to support the theme.

With the Fall theme I decided to go with “Truly Thankful for You.” Other great Fall sayings include:

Create printouts with your “red” sayings and quotes.

Measure the size of your flaps and inside.

You’ll need to know the size of each of the flaps you’ll be covering with paper. And if you’ll be covering the inside of your box, measure those as well. I used Microsoft Word and created text boxes the size of the box sides and flaps. Then I typed my sayings into those text boxes.

Cut paper for inside of the box and create printouts with your Fall sayings.

I bought bulk packages of 8.5 x 11 solid color card stock paper from a craft store and typically print my sayings onto them. For my Fall care box, I used mostly designed scrapbook paper. Here are free printables for a Fall project FOR FREE in case you’d prefer to print Fall sayings on colored paper (it’s so easy). If you use the shipping boxes that I linked above this will be super simple and fast for you because the printable is all measured out.

These are the Fall decorative papers I used.

Add any decorative items to the pages in the box.

I used a bag of leaves that I purchased at Walmart for about a dollar.

Fill the box with Fall items and other goodies.

Our care package filled our care boxes with some Fall-themed items and treats. I was excited to include my DIY faux leather earrings that I made in the care packages for each of the girls.

Apply shipping label.

I love these Avery labels that I got on Amazon! You can go the Avery website and there are dozens of great templates. I can quickly find something cute here that fits my theme. I covered our addresses below with card stock for privacy reasons. (These labels make it easier for me to re-use my boxes.)
