This little box of sunshine care package is easy to make with FREE printables.
In this blog post you’ll find a couple of different free printables for this little box of sunshine care package. One is more designed and requires colored ink. The other will print in only black ink and can be printed on color card stock or even on white card stock that can be decorated with the sunshine theme.
A YouTube video on this project is linked below at the end of this blog post, showing the second project.

Packaging for Your Care Box
There is no shortage of options for containing your little box of sunshine care package, with many sizes of boxes, baskets, and other types of containers. If you follow my care package blog posts, you’ll notice I almost always us the same box. I love this box for a few reasons:
- Size – big enough to put several items in, but small enough to affordably fill it up.
- Style of opening – I like how the flap opens at the top and the nice space on the top flap, perfect for decorating
- Color – The white box color gives it an elevated look.
I ordered my boxes here from Amazon. After shopping around at ULine and others, I found this to be the best deal after factoring in the free shipping that I receive with Amazon Prime. It usually costs me about $8 to mail this box, once it’s full.
These boxes are 10″ x 7″ x 4″. As you pick your boxes, think through all three dimensions. It was important to me to have at least 3.5″ in height so that I wouldn’t be too limited on what would fit into the box.
Pick your sunshine quotes/sayings for a Sunshine Care Package
There are so many great sayings about sunshine. Here are some of my favorites:
- A little box of sunshine to brighten your day
- Smile & Shine
- You are the sunshine that makes our day
- You are the one that can fill the world with sunshine
- Hello Sunshine!
- Keep your face in the sunshine and you can’t see a shadow
- Scatter sunshine wherever you go
Pick the ones that you want to include as you decorate your sunshine care package.
Create printouts with your sunshine quotes.
If you want to use my pre-made printables and you’re using the same box that I do, you’re set! No need to do measurements. I’ve included the measurements of my box below in case you’re wanting to make any modifications.
- Top Flap – 10.5 inches wide, 7 inches tall
- Bottom (inside) of box – 10 inches wide, 7 inches tall
- Left and right side (inside) – 7 inches wide, 3.8 inches tall
- Front and back sides (inside) – 10 inches wide, 3.8 inches tall
If you’re using a different box, you’ll need to know the size of each of the flaps you’ll be covering with paper. And if you’ll be covering the inside of your box, measure those as well.
Print the printables.
I use this white printable card stock to print out my colored ink care package printables at home. This card stock is smooth and accepts the ink well. It’s competitively priced and comes out to a low per sheet cost. I used to buy white card stock at Hobby Lobby at 50% off. It printed alright, but there were often streaks and some spots from time to time. The linked card stock above actually comes out cheaper than the discounted Hobby Lobby card stock.
Printable Option 1
I LOVE this set of printables! The combination of bright yellows, oranges, and hints of red are perfect for the sunshine theme of this care package.
Access these FREE sunshine care package printables here. I’m making these care package printables available to you for free so that you can easily make your care package. Feel free to print it out and use it, but please do not distribute it digitally (do not email my file to people, instead send them a link to the website).
Printable Option 2
The second option doesn’t require any color ink. This printable features black ink and can be printed on color card stock. Access the option 2 printable for this project FOR FREE here. If you use the boxes that I did (linked above) this will be super simple and fast for you.
Here are some of the fonts I used on the care packages (in case you want to type your own sayings).
Add embellishments to the printable.
If you’re creating the sunshine care package with the option #1 printable, you won’t need to add embellishments as there is much design in the printable already.
If you are using the option #2 printable, you may decide to add sunshine stickers (available from any craft store) or cut out sunshine shapes from construction paper. I used a Cricut machine to cut my sun shapes and circles out, but you could either freehand them or find some online to trace. If you don’t have a Cricut machine, you should check it out. I use it for so many different projects! You could also use markers or crayons and draw the suns on your printable.
Adhere sunshine printouts to the flaps and inside of box.
Fill the sunshine care package with yellow items.
There are so many yellow items that are perfect for your care package. See the ones I chose below.
Another Design
I’ve given a lot of these sunshine yellow care packages. I once actually cut the letters out of a designed paper card stock (using a Cricut). I think this turned out really cute, but it took a lot more time than the printed design above.
Shipping Label
I’m using Avery labels to address my box. Click here for the ones I use. I love these because you go to the website shown on the package and there are DOZENS of templates that are really cute. There are many labels that work great for a sunshine-themed package. A few are shown below.
