How to make a first aid kit for the college dorm
It’s hard to imagine my daughter feeling sick and me not being there to help her. Even though she’s 18, I still listen to her share symptoms and then find the medicine that I think will best help her.
In just a few week’s she’ll be heading off to college and I want to make sure she has the basics so that when her or her roommate is feeling bad, they’ll have remedies close at hand.
My website contains affiliate links which means that I may receive a small commission for items purchase; however that doesn’t change the price you pay.
Here are the basics included in my kit:
- Assorted bandages
- Alcohol prep pads
- Antiseptic cream
- Cold medicine
- Cough Drops
- Thermometer
- Acetaminophen
- Ibuprofen
- Digestive relief (Pepto)
- Gas-X
- Tums
- Zantac
- Ace bandage
- Tweezers
- Nail clippers
- Cold packs
I waited until I had purchased all my first aid kit items before I bought the container to make sure my small tub was big enough to fit everything. I picked one with a lid that fastens shut to avoid spillage of medication all over the floor at a time when someone probably already isn’t filling well.
As a finishing touch, I used my Cricut cutting machine to cut letters in Vinyl for the First Aid Kit box. You certainly don’t need to do this, but I thought it was a fun touch.
It gives me much comfort to know that if she does get sick while away at school, she’ll most likely be able to find a remedy in her first aid kit.
