In this Easter decor craft, I’ve created Easter Brunch place card flower pots, a fun decorative way to decorate an Easter brunch table.
This posting includes step-by-step photos and instructions for how I made this DIY Easter decor craft and at the bottom of the post you’ll find a YouTube video link as well.
Supplies:
I used the following supplies to make this Easter DIY decor:
- Seed pots (Dollar Tree)
- Bright green pebbles (Dollar Tree)
- Colorful straws (Dollar Tree)
- Burlap ribbon (Dollar Tree)
- Colorful paper (for your flowers)
- Penny or other item to cover the hole in the pot)
- Glue gun and glue sticks
I started by cutting my flowers.
You can cut your flowers a number of ways:
- Use a cutting machine (Cricut, Silhouette).
- Free hand draw and cut flowers.
- Find a drawing of a flower on the internet and use it to trace and cut flowers.
I used my Cricut machine to cut my flowers. There was a great free flower cut file in Design studio. I cut a couple of different sizes of flowers so that I could layer them for more color.
Close the hole on the flower pot.
The straw (stem) of the flower gets glued into the center of the pot; however, there is a hole right where the straw needs to go. This means that you’ll need to cover that hole. You can use a piece of card stock, card board, or a number of other things.
I used a penny to cover my holes. If you want to do this, simply put a generous dot of hot glue on one side of the penny.
Then, place the penny into the pot (glue side down).
Then, glue the straw (stem) into the pot.
To do this, put a generous dot of glue in the center of the pot. For me this was right in the center of my penny.
Place the straw (stem) into the glue and hold it up for about 30 seconds to a minute while the glue begins to dry.
Add pebbles to the pot, while continuing to hold the straw (stem) in place.
Be sure to keep the straw in the center of the pot as you are adding the pebbles and to evenly pour the pebbles around the straw.
Once the pots are prepared, label the place cards with the names of your guests.
I decided to use a Sharpie and write the names on my flowers. I contemplated printing the names on card stock and then using a hole punch to make a circle cut around their name, but opted for handwriting as I thought it seemed more personal.
Layer the flowers and glue together.
I decided to layer the flowers to bring more color into my DIY Easter decor. You can use a tape runner, glued dots, regular glue or even a glue gun to glue these layers together. Since my glue gun was there, I just dabbed a little on the flowers to glue them together.
Glue flowers onto the stems.
Use the glue gun to place a strip of flue on the top of the straw and then press the flower onto the straw. Repeat this until all the flower fronts on the straws.
Once the fronts are glued on, turn the pots around and glue flowers to the back side of the flowers. I didn’t write guest names on the back of my place cards.
Place the ribbon around the seed pots.
I wrapped the burlap ribbon around the seed pot to determine the necessary length and then cut it. This is a wide burlap so I then cut this piece of burlap ribbon into narrow strips for this project.
Using hot glue, I glued the burlap ribbon strips on the outside of the seed pots.
Finished!
These turned out so cute. They’ll be perfect for Easter Sunday brunch! And until brunch, they’re scattered around my home as the perfect DIY Easter decor (with names facing to the back so that part isn’t seen).
