This ghoulish Halloween care package post contains a FREE printable for the inside of the box.
If you’d prefer to watch this project on video, see my YouTube video link for the project below at the end of the post.
My website contains affiliate links which means that I may receive small commissions for items purchased, which doesn’t change the price you pay.
Supplies:
- box for care package
- Decorative Paper to decorate the inside of the box
- My printable for sides of box
- Decorations for inside of box – My felt decorations are from the Dollar Tree.
- If you want to do the beaded ghost garland – beads and white yarn
Find a box.
Figuring out what you’ll use for your box is one of the first things you need to do. The size of the your box determines how much can fit inside and also determines how you can decorate your box.
While there are many sizes of boxes available, I decided to go with one that is 10″ x 7″ x 4″.
I liked this box because it is deep enough to hold various types of items. Click here to see the box that I got on Amazon. They’re available with Amazon Prime, so there wasn’t a shipping cost. I have a care package group so we’ll all use these. I also like this size because it doesn’t take a lot to fill it up.
Cut paper for the lid, bottom, and inside sides of the box.
If you’re using decorative paper (scrapbook paper), cut the paper to the dimensions below. If you don’t have decorative paper, you can print my FREE printable for the top flap and bottom of the box.
Top flap
The measurement for the inside top flap of this box is 7″ tall and 10.5″ wide.
Inside bottom
The measurement for the bottom is 7″ tall and 9.9″ wide.
Inside Side Flaps
I created a printable that you can use for your inside sides. You’ll need 2-8.5×11″ sheets of paper to print the four sides. If you’re only printing the sides, only print pages 3-4. Pages 1-2 are available for those that don’t have decorative paper for the top flap and the bottom of the box.
Decorate the sides, as desired.
Keep in mind that when your box if full you can’t even see the sides. For that reason I don’t go too crazy on the extra side decorations. However, I do like to have some fun surprise decoration.
I chose to use the felt stickers (shown below) from the Dollar Tree. Each package comes with 15 stickers so my dollar went far.
Attach ghost tassel garland.
I love this ghost tassel garland. I think it is the perfect final touch to this Halloween care package. Click here to see my post on how to make the ghost tassel garland.
Fill the Halloween care package.
It’s easy to find perfect items for a Halloween care package. Below you’ll see a few items listed that we included in our Halloween care box.
- 2 packages of Dollar Tree string lights – we opened the packages and loaded them with the batteries before sending because we knew our daughter wouldn’t have the tiny screwdriver necessary to change them out.
- Halloween socks
- Door Hanger – our friend painted these and they’re absolutely DARLING! I’ll put a close up of this below so you can see it better.
- Foam pumpkin, customized for each box. Our friend that made these designed each one specific to the girl (sorority, college, or initials). I’ll do a blog post on these as I’ll be making more of them and she learned a lot and had tips from her experience. A photo of those pumpkins will be below as well
- Reeces Outrageous bar
- Reeces Peanut butter cup
- Little Debbie Halloween brownie
- Reeces pieces
- Halloween Rice Krispie treats
- Halloween Gold Fish
- Party Mix – I’ll do a blog post on this one too
