Make this no-sew face mask with a bandanna and hair ties.
This DIY no-sew face mask is easy to make with just two items – a bandanna and hair ties (pony tail holders). See step-by-step directions below for how to make this easy DIY face mask.
If you’d prefer to watch video directions, see my video below.
1. Flatten bandanna on a hard surface.
2. Gather hair ties.
3. Fold bandanna in half to make a mark for the half-way line.
4. Unfold bandanna.
5. Fold bottom of bandanna up to the middle.
6. Fold top of bandanna down to the middle.
7. Flip the bandanna over.
Hold onto the pieces to ensure the folds don’t get messed up when you flip it over.
8. Fold the top of the bandanna down to the middle. Then fold the bottom up to the middle.
9. Add a hair tie (or rubber band) to each side of the diy no-sew face mask.
The section in the middle is what will become the mask covering your mouth so move the hair ties closer towards the end to make the mask wider, as needed.
10. Flip the bandanna over.
This will make the inside of the diy no-sew face mask (the side that faces your lips) facing up.
11. Fold each side of the bandanna where the hair tie is toward the middle.
Tuck one side into the other. This takes some maneuvering.
I like to press it flat because this is the side that will be against my mouth.
12. Pull the mask up/down as needed to make the mask tall enough to cover both your nose and mouth.
The hair ties will go on your ears.
How to lengthen a mask
If the mask is too tight, add another hair tie to each side (see video).
And that’s it! Super easy! Super fast!
